Internet and Cybercrime

This paper seeks to draw the link between the proliferations of cybercrime with the innovation of internet. Additionally, this paper will first study how the internet revolution has changed our lives, and subsequently explore the effects of cybercrime on our society, with adversaries using the internet as a medium to perpetrate. More information about the difficulties of identifying these criminals will also be studied as a result of their concealment, and also what are the ongoing efforts to mitigate or eliminate such happenings. Finally we will look at any future developments and potentials to curb the cybercrimes.

The internet signifies a new age of free information flow between everyone; it is the epitome of globalization which also meant the “shrinking of the world”. Given its myriad features, we can use it for information acquisition. However, there are always antagonists who seek to abuse the features for their benefit or for disruptions. While the internet provides a proxy for anonymity, cybercrime perpetrators could use this concealment attribute to deter their true identification. Modern techniques still proved to be difficult for tracing the real identities of these people and therefore there is a rising trend and widespread of cybercrime all around the world.
